My Story - Margaret Burlingham Photography

My Story

Like you, I have always loved horses and country life.   My dream was to live on a farm and own race horses.

When I reached that dream, I wanted to take the best photographs I could of my horses.

One of my first race horses, Saint Leon, was a $5000 claimer who went forward to win the Arlington Sprint Listed Stake three years in a row.  What a dream come true!  I was hooked for life and now race under the name Oak Rock Racing LLC.

Many of the horses in these images are from the barn of trainer Michele Boyce.

I want race horses to have a great life and second career after they are racing and own three; Royally Robbed, Knight Fighter, and Conchacer who is now my riding horse.

For most of my life I dreamed about going to the barns at a race track and a friend and I would walk to neighboring Aurora Downs in Illinois and peer into the barns from behind a fence. .  Now that I'm frequently on the backstretch (stable area), I hope this website gives you a taste of the beauty and power of Thoroughbred racing and the day to day life of a race horse.

My husband and I also farm 500 acres in Southern Wisconsin and many of the landscape photographs are taken on our farm and close by.  It's important to me to give you a glimpse into life on a real crop farm.

If you enjoy my work and would like something to grace your home or office, prints on various media and other items may be purchased by clicking on a gallery and then clicking  "Buy".  I hope you enjoy my images.
